Epic Ultra University
Practical education for ultrarunners, race directors, crews, pacers, and others who make the sport work — grounded in real-world experience, solid systems, and grassroots ultrarunning knowledge.
Preserve hard-earned knowledge. Make it useful. Pass it forward.
Epic Ultra University exists to turn decades of ultrarunning experience, race operations, community knowledge, lessons learned, and practical systems into education people can actually use.
The goal is not to sanitize ultrarunning into theory. It is to capture what works in the real world and make that knowledge easier to learn, apply, question, improve, and preserve.
Education for the whole ecosystem.
Ultrarunners
Learning built around preparation, decision-making, race execution, resilience, problem solving, and the lived realities of going beyond the marathon.
Race Directors
Practical education in operations, logistics, communication, runner experience, volunteers, risk thinking, systems, and the many moving parts behind an ultramarathon.
Crews, Pacers & Community
Knowledge for the people supporting runners and races — including crews, pacers, volunteers, families, collaborators, and others who help the sport function.
A living school for a sport built on experience.
Epic Ultra University is intended to grow into a structured learning platform that combines firsthand knowledge, documented systems, historical perspective, practitioner insight, and emerging tools.
Future learning may include self-paced material, guided programs, workshops, interviews, case studies, practical resources, and specialized tracks for different roles within ultrarunning.
Epic Ultra University is designed around practical education rather than guru culture. The sport contains decades of knowledge scattered across runners, race directors, crews, volunteers, publications, old newsletters, conversations, mistakes, and hard-won experience. The university exists to organize more of that knowledge without pretending there is only one right way to run or build an ultra.
